if i had$422 i would go to every single house on my block with my friends and families and we would each have recycle bins that i bought with the money any i would collect everything that can be recycled like cell phones and stuff and i would pick up the trash that’s around my neighborhood to make it greener!cuz i love my earth and i want to make it a better and safer place to live!!!

With the $422 dollars, I would start a community effort to recycle. The money will be used to buy recycling bins. The bins will be placed inside of my high school and at popular restaurants and shopping places in my community. I will also use the money to buy supplies-gloves, trash bags, ets.- for a “clean up crew” to clean up my community, especially around my school.

My idea for making our earth more green would be that when it rains there would be special pipes installed under every house’s lawn. The rain would go through the pipes and then collect in a bucket installed under the house. The bucket would then have a pipe connecting it to the sink. The water would then be released as normal drinking water through the faucet of the sink when turned on.

I would use the $422 to purchase reuseable bags and supplies to promote how their use help our Earth. My students and I would make posters stating facts about how plastic bags can harm our earth (research based) as well as present mini speeches on the same topic to the public outside our local grocery stores. We would then give the bags away as a gift from our earth asking shoppers to please use them whenever they shop.

Since we all can’t run out to by Hybrid cars, we need to focus on the things that we can do to make a difference in the world. Reduce, reuse, recycle….plant a garden….unplug lights/computers/appliances when not in use….and most importantly is to TEACH YOUR CHILDREN how to do all these things, so it becomes a way of life for them, not something they have to work at! If we all did that the Earth would be a much happier place!

I would choose to spend the $422 on educating my children on how to live a green lifestyle through homeschooling projects such as gardening, composting, recycling, crafts that use materials that would normally be thrown away, etc. Our children are the next generation and the biggest impact we can make in this world and to spread the green initiative and way of life is to pass it on to our children. Here’s to a greener life!

EarthDay is such a very good day,Because we get to take care of mother earth. If i was to win this i would buy envirmental freindly light bulb. Those will help us by keeping and save energy.and i would do alot more to keep this world safe and litter free with the money i get if i win this and that is a promise!

A garden. That’s what I’ll do. But, not just any ole’ garden. It will be one that screams “community”. You see, produce and fruits are becoming extremely expensive, making them harder to purchase for my family. Thus, decreasing a healthy way of eating in our household. With $422, I can grow my own vegetables and fruits. Have the neighborhood children join in and create an outlet for them to infuse their energy. How’s this going green? Well, children helping in the garden takes away from the time spent inside playing video games and watching television = less electricity used. Growing my own vegetables and fruits gives back locally = less green (money) being spent and production in larger markets. Attending to a garden is a lot of work, so I’ll be outdoors more = less time on the computer wasting time and energy. By the time I am finished my project, I will have turned my $422 into an amount that is priceless when I think of all the benefits of a garden. I cannot wait to see what opportunities sprout!

Going Green

As a college student, it’s easy to come up with probably a hundred things that I could do with $422, were it readily available to me. Like everyone else, I’ve got rent, a car payment, insurance payments, utilities, and cell phones bills. I’ve even got this great thing called a student loan, which on its own would consume more than half of the aforementioned amount.

However, I’m certain that lately my mind wanders past the ordinary financial obligations that I have, and I’m pressed to be concerned about things like just how much paper I use, or how much water I waste. While I could not end global warming or force everyone in my complex to recycle with just $422, I am confident that I could purchase biodegradable cleaning items and products, and even employ the use of pre-bottled water rather than using tap. In addition, I would utilize what was left to provide my neighborhood church with recycled bathroom tissue and environmentally friendly kitchen utensils and cleaning supplies as well.

These things may seem simple, but they are functional for my generation and socioeconomic status. While I may not alter the ozone, I can surely try my darndest!

Reduce Use

With $422 dollars I would upgrade my home with energy efficient bulbs and but timers for the electronics that sit idle at night. This should cut down on the energy used. I would also try to reduce the amount of water I use by purchasing low flow showerheads. This would be a great start to going green.
